In response to the question, what is the evidence of salvation?
Here's the most basic answer. There is an inward and outward evidence of salvation.
The inward evidence is the direct witness of the spirit "The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God" (Romans 8:16)
The outward evidence is a life of holiness that is witnessed by men. "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus, before the world began" (2 Tim.1:9. see also 1 Thess.4:7) It is therefore an inward change with an outward expression.
