The Children and Youth Ministry is an integral part of the cooperative efforts of the church to encourage the development of Christ-Centered families that they will be healthy spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Children will be taught and encouraged to participate in the various elements of worship. The Children and Youth ministry will develop and coordinate programs for toddlers through age thirteen, and form partnerships with parents in the development of their children’s faith in the homes.
It is clear that God has always accepted the worship of children and, at times, even lifted their worship up as a model for adults. This was brought forward into the New Testament by Jesus, declaring that “out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise” (Matt. 16:4). The Great Commandment Jesus gives, “to love the lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind,” (Matt. 22:37), we believe that whatever a person's capacities are, he/she can love the Lord with all his/her heart and soul and mind – whether at age 5, or 11, or 35.
We view our children as they were viewed in Bible Times where they were active participants in religious festivals and temple worship, and Psalm 78: vs. 4 testifies to the people’s zeal to inspire worship of the lord with their children. The belief that of all people, the child was the dearest to God is still held today, and as the worship of God (Yahweh) was an integral part of the Hebrew child’s life is just as relevant in this post-modern world of the 21st century.
In Psalm 148: 12-13 it is clear that God invites children to join their parents in worshipping him.
Children may not understand the intricacies of revelation and essential doctrines of the church, but they should be taught, encouraged, and assisted so that they can learn to love God with all their hearts and minds, and their developmental levels will allow them to participate in other aspects of the church’s ministry.
Our vision is to develop an effective ministry model that will transform the lives of youth, their families, and the community. This includes working in collaborative partnerships with churches, para-church ministries, organizations, agencies, and businesses. These partnerships provide an active working forum to coordinate plans and resources to develop common strategies.
